Hello, my friends! I hope all of you are well. Currently, I am in Deleware Water Gap, PA. Walked in yesterday (21 mi). I can say that it was the most rain I have walked in since I have been on the trail. PA is nothing more than a rock trail, so the rain added another element to the already difficult hiking. My feet, knees and ankles were beat up good (especially knees), but my spirits remain high. I am staying (or stayed last night) at a church hostel with 9 or so other hikers. Most of us walked in the rain from the time we woke to the time we arrived at the hostel. I don't want to say it was miserable, but it was hard, hard hiking. I was glad to get into town, to say the least. I am in town attending to chores and will walk out today. The weather looks like it may remain clear, but you just never know. Hopefully, it will not rain on my way out of town--kinda defeats the point of getting to town to dry out. I'm out of PA and into NEW JERSEY! and have 895 miles to go! Wild, isn't it? Time is slipping away as the miles go by.
I wanted to thank everyone for signing the guestbook and for your prayers and encouragement--they mean alot to me out here. When I come into town, finding internet is a must. Also, thanks to Steve (Snickers) for his continued effort and patience. Mom, Dad, thanks for everything you do for me; I wouldn't be out here if it wasn't for your love and support.
If any of you have tried to email me lately, my email has (was) been down for some time, so I may not have received your email. Please do not stop emialing me, it was just a technical hiccup from my provider, Bellsouth. Sorry if you have tried to email me--there's not too much I can do with it out here. My Dad was the one who got it up and going again (thanks, Dad)!
Well, I suppose that's about it for now. I need to eat lunch and get back out there to try to beat (if that's possible) the rain. Take care and I will see you all soon.
Mad Love,
TrailDawg
